Young people from Treorchy Comprehensive School were recognised for their hard work and dedication, and won awards at the Mid Glamorgan High Sheriff Awards earlier this month.
Josh runs the YEPS after-school DJ club in Treorchy Comprehensive School. He turns up to the club early to set up so that all the equipment is set-up ready for the young people. Josh teaches the other young people how to mix music, prepare music sets and ensure the lighting system compliments the music.
Josh also manages the DJ Sessions and karaoke at Treorchy Youth Club, he is well respected by all the young people and encourages them to get involved, the setup and puts away all the equipment himself.Josh creates the music sets at home to ensure everything is ready for his sessions.
Josh won the ‘Sony Experience Award’ where he will gain a weeks paid work experience in Sony in Pencoed, what a wonderful experience!
Veggies for Velindre are dedicated and committed to raising funds to the Charity that’s close to their hearts. The family set up this charity organisation in June 2023, showing their desire in growing
Seren (age 14) and Morgan (age 12) are siblings, and along with the support from their parents, take responsibility in growing seasonal fruit and vegetables and sell them at an affordable cost to the community, and all profits are donated to Velindre.
Seren and Morgan show fantastic team work, constantly supporting each other with the daily tasks of running the charity such as the gardening, overseeing the social media page and dealing with customers.
Seren and Morgan are resilient and despite any hurdles such as poor weather, they are still persistent in running the charity in the outdoor environment. Overall these young people are an asset to the community and their social media page ‘Veggies for Velindre’ evidence the appreciation in the community, they are great role models for their peers.
